A commemorative headstone was unveiled by Astrid Starck-Adler, Lewis’ widow (right) at Lewis’ grave in Stellawood Cemetery in Durban on 26 April 2014.  Litzi Lombardozzi read from the first chapter of Mating Birds, Lewis’ best known novel, set in Durban. The birds on the headstone, designed by Andries Botha, recall the birds of the title.
